Solar Battery Charging for Your Car – Don’t Get Stranded!
Because I spend a lot of time off-roading, I wanted a backup plan in case I ever ended up stuck deep in the wilderness with a dead battery. Living in the Nevada desert adds another challenge, especially with the extreme summer heat, even though I try to avoid riding during the hottest periods. In this video, I show how I installed a solar charging setup and how quickly it can provide just enough power to get a vehicle started again.
I’m using a 50-watt Renogy solar panel, which produces up to 3 amps of charging current. That may not sound like much, but it’s more than enough to bring a vehicle battery back to life. The system uses a 10-amp MPPT charge controller from LensunSolar, along with a dual battery setup featuring Odyssey AGM batteries and a TrueAm battery isolator.
